Norges Bank on 5 November: what would you need to see before the krone moves?
Norges Bank's policy rate decision is on Thursday 5 November at 10:00, according to its calendar (Norges Bank calendar). The calendar lists the November meeting as a policy rate decision on its own. The next meeting with a Monetary Policy Report is on 17 December, so the November decision will carry less of the bank's written analysis. The preview has the calendar details. Oil prices often matter to the Norwegian krone, because Norway's economy depends on oil exports, so energy prices are one input you might check before the decision.
Questions for members:
- Before a Norges Bank decision, which data do you check first: inflation, the labour market or oil?
- Have you traded the krone around a decision? What happened, and what did you change afterwards?
- Does the absence of a Monetary Policy Report in November change how much weight you give the decision?
