What changed for you after the Fed's September hike?
The Federal Reserve raised its target range by a quarter point on 16 September 2026, to 3.75% to 4.00% (the September hike). It then held the range on 28 October by a 10–2 vote, with two members wanting a further increase (FOMC statement, 28 October 2026). A single move followed by a hold is a useful test of how a trader's plan handles a changed regime.
Members often describe the hike in terms of what it changed in their trading: a different view of the dollar, a change in how they size positions around decisions, or a new way of reading the statement. The question is what, if anything, you did differently after the September move, and whether that change held up through the October hold.
We would like to hear what changed for you:
- Did you change your view of the dollar after the September hike? How?
- What did you do differently around the October decision because of the September move?
- Which of your rules did the September hike test most, and did it hold?
- What would you do differently if the Fed were to move again in December?
