The Fed raised rates for the first time since 2023. Did you trade the decision or wait for the dust to settle?
On 16 September the Federal Reserve raised the target range for the federal funds rate by a quarter point to 3.75%–4.00%, in a 12–0 vote. It was the first increase since July 2023, and the committee's updated projections show rates staying near 4% through 2027.
Our preview listed what to watch, and the dot plot explained covers how to read the projections.
It would help other members to hear:
- whether you had a position open at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time, or stayed flat
- which you reacted to more: the decision, the projections, or the press conference
- how the first hour compared with the rest of the session on the pairs you trade
Please keep replies to your own trades and reasoning. Posts that promise a direction or sell signals will be removed.
