Canada jobs on 6 November: is wage growth a better signal than the headline?

Statistics Canada lists its Labour Force Survey for October 2026 on Friday 6 November (preview). The survey's headline employment change can swing sharply from one month to the next. Statistics Canada's payroll series fell 49,600 in August, as the payroll article reports, so the recent trend is a useful reference. The same day brings the US jobs report at 8:30 a.m. Eastern, so the two releases land together. The Canadian trade figures come out on Wednesday 4 November (preview), two days earlier.
