What INSEE highlighted

INSEE's summary lists five points: a rise in core inflation, a further acceleration in energy prices, higher services inflation, higher food inflation, and a smaller fall in manufactured goods prices. Energy was the main force behind the increase, with gas and electricity both rising faster than in August.

Reading it

A revision of 0.1 point between the provisional and the final figure is small, but it moved in the direction of the rise, which matters for the euro area's total. France's final figure of 3.1% sits between Germany's 3.3% (report) and the euro area's 3.8% (report). The gap between countries shows how much the energy shock has hit some economies more than others.
