TradingView for beginners: what did your first chart setup look like?
TradingView is where many traders learn to read charts, with paper trading built in. The setup options are endless, which is both the appeal and the trap.
Share a setup you'd give a beginner:
- time frame and chart type
- the indicators to add first, and why so few
- how to use the paper trading panel without forming bad habits
If you're new and your screen has eight indicators, post your chart description here and let someone suggest what to remove first.
Background: MetaTrader 4 vs MetaTrader 5 vs cTrader vs TradingView
The four platforms most forex traders choose between, compared on charting, order types, automation and broker availability.
What is the difference between MT4 and MT5?
MT5 has more timeframes (21 against 9), depth of market, a built-in economic calendar, more order types and a faster strategy tester. MT4 Expert Advisors written in MQL4 don't run on MT5 without being rewritten.
Can I trade forex directly on TradingView?
Yes, if your broker offers a TradingView integration. You connect your broker account and place orders from TradingView's charts.
