Profiles, connections and private messages: what should we improve?

Members can now do more than post in the forum and the global chat:

  • Profiles: add a picture, a bio, your trading style and links in your profile settings (select your name at the top of any page, then Edit profile). Your picture now appears next to your messages in the global chat.
  • Connections: choose Connect next to a name in the global chat or on a member's profile. When the other member accepts, you appear in each other's Connected people list.
  • Private messages: connected members can send each other text messages from the Messages tab in the chat panel. Links, contact details and attachments can't be sent, and the same abuse and scam filters as the chat apply.
  • Signal providers: approved providers can post signals and links in the global chat. Details are on the signal providers page.

    A few answers to questions that come up often about these features.

    • Who can see my profile? Anyone, including search engines, but only the parts you choose to show. Your email address is never displayed. You can change what's visible in your profile settings at any time.
    • Can someone message me without my permission? No. Private messages only work between members who have accepted a connection request, and you can remove a connection whenever you like.
    • What if a message breaks the rules? Use Report on the message. Moderators only see a private message when it's reported to them.
    • How do people find me? Through your posts, the global chat and the members directory.

    A reminder for everyone: anyone who connects and then asks you to move to WhatsApp or Telegram, or offers to manage your money, is a scam risk, however friendly the first messages are.
